About the role
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a licensed registered nurse (RN) with the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities
- Maintains and actively promotes effective communication with all individuals.
- Maintains a positive image of the entity in the community keeping in alignment with our mission, vision, and values.
- Responsible for on-call services, as assigned.
- Supervises functions, activities and training of nursing personnel.
- Affirms quality of care adhering to best practices around inflectional prevention and control provided by the nursing department.
- Develops and maintains standards of nursing practice and policies and procedures and provides oversight of practice.
- Ensures nursing services align with an interdisciplinary process.
- Ensures that duties of nursing personnel are clearly defined and assigned to staff consistent with their level of educational preparation, experience and licensure.
- Attains and maintains adequate personnel and supplies in the nursing department.
- Assesses resident care needs and assists in the development of individual plans of care as needed.
- Participates in pre-admission screening process for new residents as needed.
- Participates in committee meetings and interdepartmental meetings that align with Quality Assurance Process Improvement Standards.
- Assumes responsibility for nursing service compliance to federal, state and local regulations.
- Participates in budget formation and operates nursing service within the budgetary guidelines.
- Follows all department safety rules.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Minnesota.
- Knowledge and/or experience in geriatrics.
- Management experience preferred.
- Knowledge and/or experience with state and federal regulations.
- Commitment to quality outcomes and services for all individuals.
- Ability to relate well to all individuals.
- Ability to maintain and protect the confidentiality of information.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions.
- Ability to adapt to change.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and/or experience in geriatrics.

- Knowledge and/or experience with state and federal regulations.

$105,050-$132,770 annual salary (dependent upon experience).
