About the Role
The Director of Nursing provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for multiple critical care and cardiovascular departments. This role ensures high-quality patient care, strong financial performance, regulatory compliance, and a healthy, engaged workforce. The Director will collaborate closely with clinical and administrative leaders to drive excellence across all service lines.
Oversee Multiple Departments for Critical Care and Cardiovascular Services
- Intensive Care Unit
- Cardiac Care Unit
- Heart & Vascular
- Respiratory Therapy & Sleep Lab
Key Responsibilities
- Fiscal Operations - Lead budgeting, financial planning, expenditure approvals, and productivity monitoring.
- Clinical Collaboration - Partner with medical staff to address service needs, enhance community relations, and support program development.
- Policy & Procedure Development - Create, update, and implement departmental policies aligned with evidence-based practice.
- Data & Systems Management - Oversee computerized record systems and reporting tools.
- Program Development - Expand and implement programs supporting evidence-based care, rehabilitation, and community health.
- Quality & Performance Improvement - Establish and monitor quality metrics and improvement initiatives.
- Talent Management - Direct recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and staff development.
- Operational Leadership - Set objectives, manage staffing plans, oversee scheduling, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Resource Utilization - Monitor use of beds, diagnostic services, equipment, and staffing to optimize efficiency.
- Facility Readiness - Inspect facilities and recommend improvements for safety, infection control, and emergency preparedness.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Associate Degree in Nursing
- Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field
- Registered Nurse (Iowa Board of Nursing)
- Basic Life Support (AHA)
- 4+ years of nursing leadership experience
- Strong clinical decision-making and critical-thinking skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in a health-related field
- CCRN certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA)
- Experience in:
