Director of Nursing-Cardiovascular Surgery Center

About the Role

This position provides strategic leadership and administration in the areas of patient care, education, safety, and quality in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing practice standards. The role promotes a professional practice environment and develops collegial partnerships with key stakeholders—including physicians, facility leaders, and organizational leadership—to positively impact clinical operations, nursing, and patient care outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Ensures a measurable, outcome-focused, systematic approach to care delivery.
• Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based, quality clinical nursing practice.
• Collaborates with healthcare providers, services, and the community in outreach and philanthropic activities.
• Integrates innovation and evidence-based findings into practice and fosters an environment supportive of innovative solutions.
• Manages quality of services across the care delivery continuum in partnership with physician and facility leaders.
• Directs employees in using a systematic, data-driven approach to problem-solving.
• Ensures performance in clinical operations, financial, human resources, and quality outcomes meets or exceeds targets.
• Provides oversight for clinical operations, quality, patient safety programs, and nursing practice with a focus on results.
• Leads human resource management, including staff turnover, retention, and satisfaction.
• Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Delivers excellent service by consistently demonstrating core and leader behaviors.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing, or higher, required.
• Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• PALS certification required within six months of start date if assigned ASC services pediatrics.
• Three to five years of progressive care management experience in a hospital, surgery center, or related healthcare facility.
• At least one year of experience leading and/or managing clinical operations.
• Strong decision-making, critical thinking, and change leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred.
• Minimum of three years of recent nursing Supervisory, Manager, or Director experience strongly preferred.
• Recent RN Charge, Supervisory, or Management experience strongly preferred.
