Director of Nursing

About the role

The Director of Nursing (DON) leads all nursing operations, ensuring exceptional care and service for clients. This role combines leadership, clinical expertise, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care.

Typical hours are Monday–Friday during business hours. After-hours, weekend, and holiday triage support is provided to assist in work-life balance.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop nursing staff
• Coordinate care plans
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory standards

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Active Minnesota RN license in good standing
• Proficient in English (written and verbal) and computer skills
• Strong assessment, communication, and leadership skills
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local nursing regulations
• Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift and carry 30+ pounds and meet physical requirements
• Availability for on-call duties and emergency response

Qualifications

• Experience as a director of nursing (preferred)
• Experience with older adults (preferred)
• Minimum three years of nursing leadership experience
