Overview
The Director of Nursing oversees quality, adequacy of services provided, and supervision of staff. Establishes, implements, and evaluates goals and objectives for clinical services that meet and promote the standards of quality. Assures that care is coordinated between services and that all resident needs are identified through the assessment process and addressed through the implementation of the Plan of Care and supervisory process.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the facility/department is in compliance with applicable regulatory statutes, standards of care, job performance and competency standards.
- Safeguards sufficient and properly prepared personnel to meet operational needs.
- Affirms the comprehensive care plan of care is maintained in conjunction with other disciplines by coordinating with other services such as rehabilitation, social services, activities, dietary, pharmacy, consulting physicians etc.
- Enforces facility policy and procedures designed to promote resident/participant and employee safety and reduce avoidable related injuries.
- Promotes employee compliance with these policies and procedures including new hire and annual employee health testing compliance.
- Participates in professional activities, in-service programs, and committee assignments to enhance personal, professional, and institutional advancement.
- Participates in the implementation of an effective and ongoing quality assurance program to evaluate and improve operations and services.
- For clinical patients, assures the comprehensive plan of care is maintained in conjunction with other RHS facilities thru coordination with services such as inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, LLH, home health, hospice, RPS, PACE and physicians.
- Collaborates with the Medical Director and facility physicians to ensure resident medical services are compliant.
- Responsible for the orientation, assignment of work tasks, supervision, staffing and training of direct reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
- Master's Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
- Two years Senior Living/Long Term Care (Required)
- Two years Supervisory experience (Required)
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire (Required)
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days (Required)
