Director of Nursing
About the role
Open Sky Community Services is seeking a strategic and compassionate Director of Nursing to lead and advance nursing services across our community-based programs. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, person-centered, and trauma-informed care while driving clinical excellence, compliance, and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Ensure high-quality, person-centered, and trauma-informed care
- Drive clinical excellence, compliance, and innovation
- Shape organizational strategy
- Strengthen workforce development
- Integrate care across multidisciplinary teams to support whole-person health
- Oversee nursing services across residential and community-based programs
- Adhere to all applicable regulations (DPH, DMH, DDS, DCF, etc.)
- Lead audits, surveys, and accreditation efforts (e.g., CARF)
- Provide training in trauma-informed care, behavioral health, and medication safety
- Support integrated care across behavioral health, developmental services, and housing
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts with Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, required
- Minimum of seven years progressive nursing experience, including leadership roles, required
- Experience in behavioral health, developmental disabilities, or community-based care, required
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements, required
- Valid Drivers License and acceptable driving history, required
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred
- Experience in leading nursing staff and overseeing nursing services
- Knowledge of community-based care models and best practices
Skills
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Understanding of trauma-informed care principles
- Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements
