About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Director of Nursing to join our team. This position is part of a strong nurse management team, utilizing a high ratio of nurse managers to residents to oversee a small skilled nursing unit within a continuing care retirement community. The role is primarily weekdays, with a predictable on-call rotation and flexibility to balance hours during the week.

Responsibilities

• Supervising all nursing staff and ensuring staff provides quality resident care that meets or exceeds regulatory standards.
• Overseeing the nursing department budget.
• Overseeing and managing nurse leadership positions in the community.
• Assisting with duties of other nurse leadership positions as needed.
• Assisting with hiring and onboarding, training, development, and retention of nursing staff.
• Assuming responsibilities of daily operations of the facility in the Executive Director's absence when designated.
• Communicating with physicians, residents, and family members regarding resident health and plan of care.
• Ensuring nursing staff are trained on new policies and procedures.
• Participating in daily, weekly, and monthly meetings.
• Completing reports and audits in a timely manner.
• Ensuring nursing documentation and assessments are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with community policies.
• Reviewing restorative nursing procedures for each resident to achieve the highest possible degree of function, self-care, and independence based on resident choice, in collaboration with the MDS Coordinator.
• Overseeing and participating in the nursing on-call rotation.
• Promoting positive public relations with residents, family members, and guests.
