About the Role
This role functions as the Director of all nursing functions within the community's Skilled Nursing Facility. You will be responsible for planning, organizing, and developing all nursing service operations with the goal of delivering the highest degree of quality care for our residents. Our facility has an amazing staffing ratio, 98%-100% occupancy, and a supportive team of supervisors that report into the Director of Nursing (DON).
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the development, organization, and operation of nursing services and supportive services for the Health Center and residential apartments.
- Coordinate nursing services for apartment and Health Center residents, including procurement of outside sources such as Home Health Care Services, private duty, hospice, rehabilitation services, and psychological services to ensure residents’ needs are met.
- Communicate and meet with outside consultants to assess and make recommendations for resident care needs.
- Coordinate and direct the total planning for nursing services, including recommending staffing plans for the number and levels of licensed and certified nurses’ aides to be employed.
- Develop and maintain an effective restorative care program in collaboration with therapy providers.
- Select, train, evaluate, and discipline all nursing services personnel.
- Develop and maintain a schedule of daily rounds and assignments of duties for all nursing staff to assure 24-hour coverage sufficient to meet federal and state regulatory requirements and facility standards of care.
- Develop and participate in a new staff orientation program for employees, including private duty and agency staff.
- Oversee completion of written orientation and annual evaluations of all nursing staff.
- Appoint, with the Executive Director’s approval, a nurse to act in your behalf during temporary absences and designate a nurse in charge each shift.
- Establish procedures, in coordination with Human Resources, to ensure that nursing personnel, including private duty nursing staff, have valid and current licenses as required by federal and state regulations.
- Participate in the coordination of resident care services through departmental staff meetings.
- Attend, prepare, and analyze necessary information for the Quarterly Assurance Meetings and annual policy review.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Registered nurse with a current license in Pennsylvania.
- Two years’ experience in geriatric nursing and/or a B.S. Degree in nursing.
- Minimum of two years nursing administration experience, preferably in a long-term care setting.
- Minimum 3-5 years supervising others.
- Participation in professional organizations dealing primarily in geriatrics preferred.
- NADONA certification a plus.
