Director of Nursing
About the role
The Director of Nursing (DON) – Outpatient provides clinical leadership and oversight for nursing practice across outpatient behavioral health clinics, SMI Clinics, Patient Centered Medical Homes (PCMH), Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs), and FACT/ACT teams. This position ensures high-quality, safe, and compliant nursing care across geographically dispersed sites throughout Arizona.
Responsibilities
- Ensures high-quality, safe, and compliant nursing care across geographically dispersed sites throughout Arizona.
- Collaborates closely with compliance, quality, and operational leaders to strengthen clinical standards, improve outcomes, and drive performance improvement.
- Serves as the Program Sponsor for Opioid Treatment Programs, ensuring full adherence to SAMHSA, DEA, Arizona Department of Health Services, and accrediting-body requirements.
- Frequent site travel is required, and occasional after-hours or weekend visits may be necessary to support urgent staffing needs or on-call responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school required.
- Master’s degree (MSN, MHA, MPH, or related) preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of nursing leadership experience in behavioral health, addictions, community-based care, or integrated care.
- Experience with OTP regulatory requirements required.
- Strong knowledge of medication management standards and med-room operations required.
- Ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout Arizona required.
- Experience with ACT/FACT, SMI Clinics, or PCMH models preferred.
- Experience with NextGen preferred.
- Valid Arizona (or Compact) Board of Nursing (current and in good standing).
- Current driver’s license (valid and in good standing).
- Clear 39-month motor vehicle record (MVR).
- Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check required.
