About the role
Blue Cloud is a leading pediatric Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) company, focusing on dental restorative and exodontia surgery for pediatric and special needs patients under general anesthesia. We are dedicated to providing safe, quality, and affordable care to families and payors. As our network expands, we are seeking a Director of Nursing to join our skilled and compassionate care team.
Responsibilities
- Recruitment, retention, evaluation, and supervision of nursing personnel.
- Formulate and implement nursing philosophy and objectives aligned with the surgery center's goals.
- Develop policies, procedures, and staffing essential for achieving the nursing philosophy and objectives.
- Review and revise policies and procedures in collaboration with the administrator, nursing staff, and professional staff.
- Evaluate programs and patient care activities to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.
- Ensure documentation of patient care meets legal and health standards.
- Establish, maintain, and analyze standards of nursing care within the surgery center.
- Collaborate on standards of performance with ancillary support services.
- Maintain awareness of professional issues impacting nursing services and healthcare management.
- Initiate and support cost control initiatives.
- Order, receive, store, and distribute medical supplies and drugs, ensuring proper stock levels.
- Make recommendations for medical supplies and equipment purchases based on product evaluations.
- Oversee quarterly inventory processes, including counting, pricing, and extending prices.
- Act as a Registered Nurse in the preoperative area when necessary.
- Delegate administrative responsibilities to other staff RNs and notify the Administrator.
- Assume administrative responsibility of the surgery center in the absence of the Administrator.
- Provide guidance, counseling, and support to the nursing staff.
- Supervise nursing orientation programs and staff development as needed.
- Reduce the risk of nosocomial infections by directing infection control and environmental safety practices.
- Supervise the collection of all required records and reports.
- Hold employees accountable for assigned responsibilities and performance expectations through annual evaluations and conferences.
- Serve on multi-disciplinary committees, assist with quality data gathering, complete audits, and report findings to relevant staff and management teams.
- Establish, maintain, and evaluate quality control studies within the operating room, pre-operative area, and PACU.
- Identify areas requiring additional education, consultation, or practicum.
- Maintain patient, dentist, and employee privacy and confidentiality according to policy.
- Follow the surgery center's professional conduct and dress code policy.
- Attend all mandatory in-services and meetings.
- Provide outstanding customer service that exceeds expectations.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current state license to practice as a registered nurse.
- At least 2 years of nursing experience.
- Knowledge of the nursing process and its application.
- Current American Heart Association issued Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in nursing, preferred.
- ICU or perioperative nursing experience, preferred.
- Leadership experience, preferred.
- Director of Nursing or Nurse Manager experience, preferred.
- Regulatory and accreditation knowledge (CMS, DOH, OSHA, AORN, AAAHC), preferred.
