Director of Nursing

About the role

The Director of Nurses (DON) is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing Service Department. This position ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines and clinical standards of care.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, develop, and direct the Nursing Service Department
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines and clinical standards of care
• Work closely with the Administrator and Medical Director to maintain high-quality care
• Communicate effectively with staff and family members

Requirements

• Licensed Registered Nurse with an active, unencumbered current license
• Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Director of Nursing in a skilled nursing facility
• Strong working knowledge of DPH long-term care regulations
• Good survey history

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Director of Nursing in a skilled nursing facility
• Exceptional command of local, state, and federal regulations
• Unwavering professionalism
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to respond calmly and professionally in challenging environments or situations
• Effective computer skills
• Extraordinary interpersonal and leadership skills
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
