Director of Nursing

About the role

We are looking for a results orientated Director of Nursing (DON), with strong leadership interpersonal and communication skills to exercise administrative and functional supervision over nursing personnel as directed by the Administrator.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of the Nursing department to ensure the highest degree of quality resident care in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and standards.
• Maintain an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing throughout employment.
• Supervise and lead a team of nursing staff, fostering a positive team atmosphere.
• Liaison with residents, families, support departments, etc. to adequately plan for resident needs.
• Implement and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
• Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.
• Show integrity and professionalism in all things.

Requirements

• Currently licensed Registered Nurse (RN).
• Supervisory experience in a long-term care setting, preferable as a DON.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the long term care facility.
• Very knowledgeable in state reporting and developing and implementing plan of corrections.

Qualifications

• 5 years of supervisory experience in a long-term care setting.
• 5 years of Nurse Management experience.

• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to teach and lead by example on all shifts.
