About the role
The Director of Nursing will oversee the efficient operation of assigned Surgery Centers, ensuring proper staffing, clinical practices, and patient care. This role also involves training and onboarding staff, developing care plans, and collaborating with medical professionals.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements nursing policies and procedures.
- Maintains compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Communicates and interprets policies to nursing staff and monitors implementation.
- Participates in management team meetings to discuss patient care and staff performance.
- Recruits and hires staff, ensuring they are fully utilized and trained.
- Trains and coaches nursing staff, conducting performance evaluations and competency tests.
- Collaborates with physicians and management to achieve profitability and high-quality care.
- Coordinates care with interdisciplinary teams and external agencies.
- Develops and delivers in-service education to nursing staff.
- Monitors patient care, conducts rounds, and addresses patient complaints.
- Manages the ASC survey readiness and oversees infection control.
- Maintains compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
- Supports the governing board and provides oversight for various office functions.
- Ensures patient records are complete and up-to-date.
- Maintains medical equipment and manages supplies.
- Oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual drills and in-services.
- Re-credentials with insurance companies as needed.
- Facilitates communication between departments and stakeholders.
- Supports employee morale and development.
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of related Ambulatory and/or Circulating Nursing experience.
- Prior staff management experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing preferred.
- Experience in the Ophthalmic Industry with multiple Surgery Center locations.
- Experience with regulatory and accreditation surveys (AAAHC Accreditation).
- Current CA Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Current ACLS/BLS Certification.
- CPR Certification.
