About the role
Atria Senior Living’s Life Guidance Director ensures that the Company's philosophy is implemented and practiced within the Life Guidance neighborhood of the community. You will maintain a positive and energetic environment for residents with dementia, manage and supervise clinical and non-clinical Life Guidance staff, and execute daily programs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a positive and energetic environment for residents with dementia.
- Manage and supervise clinical and non-clinical Life Guidance (LG) staff, including scheduling, delegation, performance reviews, pay adjustments, recruitment, hiring, corrective action, and training.
- Properly schedule clinical and non-clinical staff for their shifts.
- Execute and organize daily programs for the Life Guidance neighborhood, ensuring implementation 24/7.
- Collaborate with the Support Center to provide community-specific programming options.
- Ensure Life Guidance staff complete New Hire Orientation within the required time frame.
- Lead, direct, and train staff by modeling proper approaches and communication techniques.
- Conduct monthly dementia in-service training for all staff and maintain training records.
- Build relationships with new residents using proper onboarding tools and assessments.
- Manage and maintain the budget for the Life Guidance Program using the virtual checkbook.
- Maintain supportive relationships with residents' families and caregivers.
- Serve as the dementia care expert for the community, supporting the Community Sales Director (CSD) with referrals, tours, online reviews, and outreach events.
- Collaborate with Engage Life on community-wide programming.
- Partner with the Resident Service Director on clinical-related matters and resident care issues.
- Partner with Culinary Services to ensure proper table settings, procedures, and timely snack distribution.
- Develop a coverage schedule with the Resident Services Director.
- Deliver and attend required trainings, including virtual learning sessions and monthly Director meetings.
- Drive personal and/or Company vehicle for community-related destinations.
- Support residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed.
- Collaborate with community leaders on the Resident Needs Review (RNR) as the staff representative for Life Guidance residents.
- Interview, hire, train, develop, and evaluate all non-clinical staff.
- Perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Behavioral Health, Therapeutic Recreation, Nursing, or related field.
- Two (2) to four (4) years of experience caring for people with dementia and developing/facilitating activity programs, preferably as a manager with a specialized dementia program.
- Knowledgeable about the disease process, changes associated with dementia, and adaptive strategies to maintain residents' abilities.
- Experience facilitating family and caregiver support programs.
- Experience performing budget analysis, review, and control.
- Past experience supervising staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good computer skills, including virtual communication tools like Microsoft Teams.
- Valid driver's license and compliance with Company motor vehicle policy standards.
- Position requires driving responsibilities (may use Company-provided vehicle and/or personal vehicle).
