Director of Marketing and Communications
Nonprofit Connect: Network. Learn. Grow. is a membership-based 501(c)3 association headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., dedicated to serving the nonprofit community through education, resources, and networking. Founded in 1976, Nonprofit Connect celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026 and is part of the National Council of Nonprofits.
About the role
The Director of Communications and Marketing is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of Nonprofit Connect's communications and marketing efforts. This includes developing and executing integrated campaign strategies across various platforms, expanding the organization's brand, and managing the association's website and digital presence.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement an annual marketing plan and content strategy in support of the association's key programs, events, and member benefits.
- Lead efforts to expand the Nonprofit Connect brand and messaging into both existing and new markets.
- Preserve the organization's brand integrity by maintaining consistent presentation templates, updating branding and style guides, and ensuring adherence to visual identity standards.
- Oversee the WordPress website by creating new content and maintaining ongoing site updates.
- Develop and execute content marketing (social media and email marketing) and campaigns across platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook (Meta), Instagram, YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), and Constant Contact.
- Plan and manage digital communication content calendar to maximize participation in events and programs.
- Research, write, or produce blogs, vlogs, and/or podcasts in collaboration with staff and/member organizations, to tell member stories.
- Design all print collateral, coordinate printing and distribution for programs, special events, reports, and guides.
- Identify audiences and pull/manage segmented lists in Constant Contact or GrowthZone (CRM) for focused marketing efforts.
- Analyze and use marketing data and metrics to continually optimize marketing impact from website analytics, email marketing metrics, and social media campaign insights.
- Coordinate, develop, produce, and edit video vignettes, reels, and short stories for the website, e-learning platforms, social media, and special programs.
- Help manage vendor relationships related to marketing/communications production and projects.
- Work closely with all departments to ensure the marketing and communication needs of members, sponsors, volunteers, funders, and business partners are effectively addressed.
- Maintain and ensure compliance of the agency’s brand standards and style guide.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in marketing, communications, graphic design, or project management.
- Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva, Constant Contact (or other email platform), WordPress, GrowthZone (or other database), and video software.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks accordingly, and be deadline-oriented.
- Extraordinary interpersonal skills, exemplifying diplomacy, tact, and professionalism.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the nonprofit sector.
Benefits
The position offers a salary range of $75,000 to $85,000, full benefits including 100% employer-paid health (dental, vision, life, and long-term disability) insurance, paid holidays, generous PTO policy, and a 3% retirement contribution match.
