Director of Maintenance

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the FAA-required Director of Maintenance for a Part 135 operation.
  • Oversee all aircraft maintenance, inspections, repairs, and scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, manufacturer maintenance requirements, and company policies.
  • Develop, implement, and manage maintenance programs, procedures, and recordkeeping systems.
  • Cook up relationships with maintenance vendors, repair stations (MROs), parts suppliers, and contract maintenance providers.
  • Supervise maintenance personnel, including hiring, scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Manage departmental budgets while maintaining cost-effective maintenance operations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the FAA regarding maintenance compliance and inspections.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with company maintenance manuals, FAA regulations, and inspection standards.
  • Support workforce planning, employee development, recognition, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
  • Eligible to meet FAA requirements for Director of Maintenance designation.
  • Minimum 10 years of aviation maintenance supervisory experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of commercial aviation maintenance leadership experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience maintaining turboprop aircraft.
  • Extensive knowledge of FAA Part 119 and Part 135 regulations.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Inspection Authorization (IA) certification.
  • Experience maintaining Pilatus PC-12 aircraft.
  • FAA Airman Certificate.
  • FAA Medical Certificate.
  • Experience with light and mid-size turbine aircraft.
  • Experience with piston aircraft.
