About the role
The Director of Machine Shop oversees the operations and maintenance of the machine shop facilities, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and quality standards. The role involves strategic planning, budget management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of the machine shop facilities
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and equipment to enhance productivity and efficiency
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce waste
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and quality standards
- Manage the machine shop budget and allocate resources effectively
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members
- Represent the machine shop department at internal and external meetings and events
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Proven track record of successfully managing a machine shop facility
- Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and develop a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with ERP systems and supply chain management
- Knowledge of ISO standards and quality management systems

Pay
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
The Director of Machine Shop typically works a standard Monday through Friday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
