Overview
Viceroy Hotels & Residences is returning to New York City with the opening of Viceroy Park Avenue in December 2026. Located in the heart of Manhattan's NoMad neighborhood, this luxury hotel represents an exciting new chapter for the brand. We are seeking a Director of Luxury Leisure Sales to join our pre-opening team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to increase luxury leisure revenue and market share.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with luxury travel advisors, consortia partners, family offices, and concierge companies.
- Identify, solicit, and secure new luxury leisure business opportunities through direct outreach, networking, and strategic partnerships.
- Conduct sales calls, presentations, and client meetings to promote the hotel's luxury accommodations, amenities, and curated guest experiences.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase suite, specialty accommodation, and premium room category production.
- Build and strengthen relationships with new and existing clients through sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows, industry events, and partner engagements.
- Serve as a key representative of the hotel within the luxury travel community, attending industry conferences, networking events, and luxury travel trade functions.
- Develop business from key feeder markets through targeted sales activities and strategic account management.
- Grasp a complete understanding of the New York City luxury hospitality market, strengths and weaknesses of key competitors, demand generators, and market trends to maximize sales opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with Revenue Management to optimize leisure pricing strategies, occupancy, ADR, and total room revenue.
- Partner with Operations and Guest Experience teams to ensure seamless delivery of exceptional guest experiences for VIP and luxury leisure travelers.
- Actively participate in regular Sales Strategy, Revenue Strategy, and Sales Department meetings.
- Complete weekly sales reports, production updates, and account activity summaries.
- Responsible for managing luxury leisure booking opportunities from prospecting through post-stay follow-up and retention efforts.
- Communicate regularly with hotel leadership regarding market trends, business performance, opportunities, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
- Develop strategic partnerships with luxury brands, cultural institutions, lifestyle organizations, and other entities that align with the hotel's luxury positioning.
- Travel regularly to key domestic and international feeder markets to conduct sales calls, attend trade shows, and strengthen client relationships.
Qualifications
- Proven success in luxury leisure sales within a luxury hotel, luxury travel, hospitality, or lifestyle-related environment.
- Established relationships with luxury travel advisors, consortia partners, travel management companies, family offices, concierge services, and other luxury travel influencers.
- Demonstrated ability to generate significant luxury leisure revenue and consistently achieve or exceed sales goals.
- Exceptional sales, negotiating, and closing skills with a strong focus on relationship-based selling.
- Strong understanding of luxury consumer behavior, luxury travel trends, and the New York City luxury hospitality market.
- Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, networking, and account management skills.
- Polished and professional presentation with the ability to represent the hotel among affluent clientele and industry leaders.
- High-touch customer service philosophy with a commitment to creating memorable client and guest experiences.
- Demonstrated understanding of competitive positioning, market conditions, economic trends, and luxury pricing strategies.
- Ability to develop, manage, and grow long-term client relationships that drive repeat business and referrals.
- Must be self-directed, motivated, and demonstrate exceptional service, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Outstanding ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally in all interactions, both verbal and written.
- Keen negotiation, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating business opportunities and prioritizing activities that support the hotel's strategic goals.
- Must demonstrate initiative, creativity, and a proactive approach to business development.
- Tech-savvy, possessing strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, CRM platforms, and hotel sales systems.
- Maintains a flexible schedule to meet the business needs of a luxury hospitality environment, including evenings, weekends, and industry-related events.
- Previous luxury hotel sales experience in New York City or a comparable gateway market strongly preferred.
- Ability to travel.
