DIRECTOR OF LOWER SCHOOL CHORUS AND MUSIC TEACHER (PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME)

About the role

The Director of Lower School Chorus and Music Teacher will lead the music program for students in grades K-5, including directing the chorus and teaching individual and group lessons.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Lower School Chorus and coordinate with the Upper School Choir to provide a unified choral experience for Montgomery Academy students.
• Teach individual and group music lessons to students in grades K-5, focusing on vocal development, music theory, and performance skills.
• Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate music into the curriculum and enhance the overall educational experience.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that aligns with the school’s mission and values.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of Lower School and the Director of Fine Arts.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in music education or a related field.
• Experience leading choral groups and teaching music at the elementary level.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators.
• Passion for working with young children and fostering their musical growth.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Kodály or Orff methodologies preferred.
• Experience with technology integration in music education is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
