About the role
The Director of Lower School Chorus and Music Teacher will lead the music program for students in grades K-5, including directing the chorus and teaching individual and group lessons.
Responsibilities
- Direct the Lower School Chorus and coordinate with the Upper School Choir to provide a unified choral experience for Montgomery Academy students.
- Teach individual and group music lessons to students in grades K-5, focusing on vocal development, music theory, and performance skills.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate music into the curriculum and enhance the overall educational experience.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that aligns with the school’s mission and values.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of Lower School and the Director of Fine Arts.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in music education or a related field.
- Experience leading choral groups and teaching music at the elementary level.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators.
- Passion for working with young children and fostering their musical growth.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Kodály or Orff methodologies preferred.
- Experience with technology integration in music education is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
