Director of Logistics
Job Responsibilities
- Analyze all aspects of company logistics to determine and recommend the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies.
- Establish Logistics strategies for inbound and outbound freight needs, own vs leased equipment decisions, and 3rd party carrier selection.
- Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, and work in concert with customer service to proactively manage deliveries and resolve damage or delay concerns.
- Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers. Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or cadence.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and legal authorities, including the DOT relative to our private company fleet, as well as company safety policies.
- Negotiate transportation services and rates while owning carrier management processes including assessment, selection, and performance.
- Establish specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems and build strategic goals for optimizing across the team.
- Streamline and improve operations efficiency for parcel handling by implementing new technology around material movement and inventory management.
- Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency.
- Monitor product import or export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
- Plan and implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
Job Requirements
- 10+ plus years’ logistics/distribution multi-site management experience utilizing diverse modes of transportation, with experience leading and managing Logistics teams in implementing best practices and processes.
- Well versed in business and management principles including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership, production methodology, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques along with skills to maximize the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Knowledge of multi-channel distribution, ERP, and TMS systems with strong excel skills.
- Willing and able to travel up to 50% to company plants or regional offices.
Pay
Base Salary is $160,000 - $200,000
Annual PTO
Bonus target is 20%
