Director of Lending

Main Responsibilities

• Accountable for loan origination activity, including sourcing, business development, negotiations, underwriting, closing and servicing a new book of commercial mortgage loans.
• Drive the loan growth and profitability of Public Storage’s lending program.
• Act as the subject matter expert and collaborate with leadership on new initiatives, products and services.
• Oversee marketing programs supporting initiative.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of leadership experience in commercial real estate underwriting and lending.
• Deep and broad relationships within commercial real estate including brokers, lenders, borrowers, owners, investment managers and developers.
• Demonstrated competency in all aspects of investment origination, evaluation, and execution including:
• - Conducting research and generating investment ideas
• - Conducting financial, operational, structural, and market due diligence
• - Analyzing risks and structuring to mitigate risks while optimizing for legal, capital, regulatory, rating agency, and accounting considerations
• - Negotiating deal terms and legal documentation
• - Managing investments post-closing

• Demonstrated communication skills to be used cross-functionally, with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal capabilities.
• Ability to demonstrate effective leadership in ambiguous and frequently changing situations.
• Ability successfully direct and lead external and internal partners.
• Team player, as this person will be influencing the group indirectly and working heavily with individuals throughout the organization.
• Strong ability to build and lead teams.
• Able to make recommendations, gain buy-in and lead projects to improve the processes and efficiencies of a business team.
• The ideal candidate should have an established network of contacts within the self-storage industry.
• Ability to draw on existing relationships and establish new ones to build and maintain strong business relationships.
