Director of Landscape Design & Construction

The firm delivers a seamless, full-service approach by managing every phase of a project—from initial concept and design through construction and final installation. About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced Landscape Design-Build Project Manager to partner closely with company leadership in delivering luxury residential landscape projects. This role combines creative design, technical expertise, project management, and field leadership to oversee projects from concept through construction.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects from concept through construction completion.
- Prepare and oversee construction documents, including grading, drainage, planting, layout, and hardscape details.
- Manage project budgets, subcontractor bidding, procurement, and cost control.
- Serve as the primary client contact throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Oversee field operations to ensure quality, schedule, and design intent are maintained.
- Manage permitting processes, including conservation, wetlands, and zoning approvals.
- Support continuous improvement of design standards and project delivery processes.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience managing high-end residential landscape design-build projects.
- Experience managing projects valued at $500K–$1M+.
- Proven experience overseeing both design and construction execution.
- Experience soliciting, evaluating, and negotiating subcontractor bids.
- Strong client communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in preparing construction-level documentation.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout the Greater Boston and South Shore areas.
Qualifications
- Massachusetts Registered Landscape Architect (RLA) or eligibility for licensure (preferred).
- Degree in Landscape Architecture or related field (preferred).
- Experience with Massachusetts conservation, wetlands, and zoning permitting (preferred).
- Experience preparing project budgets and cost estimates (preferred).
