Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. Located in the heart of West Texas, the hospital opened in 1949 near downtown Stanton and was replaced in 2012 with a state-of-the-art 18-bed Critical Access Hospital on I-20.

About the role

The Laboratory Director establishes and implements quality-assurance programs, maintains compliance records, and oversees all personnel functions—including hiring, orientation, training, evaluation, discipline, and discharge. The director ensures staff competency through continuing education, in-services, and orientations; maintains personnel and patient records; assists with budgeting; and performs all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA/COLA Director. The role requires proficiency in all laboratory areas, including phlebotomy, and covers testing from waived to high complexity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited university in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related science.
• Registered and Board of Certification (BOC) or test-eligible in the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT).
• BLS certified.
• One (1) year of experience as a Laboratory Director or section supervisor.
