Position Summary

Marvin Group is seeking a Director of Integrated Mechanical Systems to establish and lead mechanical engineering, structural engineering, shelter engineering, mechanical manufacturing engineering, and mechanical integration activities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead mechanical, structural, shelter, and mechanical-integration engineering activity.
  • Own structural design, finite element analysis, thermal management, HVAC integration, environmental sealing, EMI shielding integration, equipment packaging, lifting and tie-down systems, and transportation analysis.
  • Drive maintainability, manufacturability, producibility, and lifecycle support throughout product development.
  • Lead mechanical work across concept development, system architecture, detailed design, prototype development, manufacturing support, qualification testing, production release, and field deployment.
  • Develop engineering standards, design methodologies, manufacturing documentation, qualification plans, and technical data packages that support repeatable production.
  • Establish design practices supporting the International Building Code, ASCE 7 structural and seismic requirements, military environmental qualification requirements, and customer-specific defense and utility standards.
  • Lead mechanical and system-assembly floor execution for the discipline.
  • Integrate mechanical architecture with electrical, communications, cooling, and mission equipment while protecting structural integrity, reliability, maintainability, and producibility.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; candidates with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and significant relevant experience will be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated managerial experience leading mechanical, structural, shelter, or closely related engineering work through design, manufacturing, qualification, and deployment.
  • Demonstrated experience creating functional strategies, specific objectives, and developing budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
  • Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
  • Experience with structural analysis, finite element analysis, thermal management, HVAC integration, environmental sealing, equipment packaging, and transportation-related design considerations.
  • Experience integrating mechanical design with manufacturing engineering, particularly welding and system assembly.
  • Ability to develop engineering standards, manufacturing documentation, qualification plans, and technical data packages.
  • Workking knowledge of maintainability, manufacturability, producibility, and lifecycle engineering.
  • Ability to lead cross-discipline integration with electrical, communications, cooling, and mission-equipment stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with utility-grade E-Houses, transportable electrical control rooms, modular equipment shelters, ISO container systems, environmental control systems, or similar mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Experience applying the International Building Code, ASCE 7, military environmental qualification requirements, or customer-specific defense and utility standards.
  • Experience with arc-resistant switchgear buildings, medium-voltage equipment enclosures, or mechanical infrastructure supporting mission-critical electrical equipment.
