Director of Institutional Giving

About the role

The Director of Institutional Giving leads and grows Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami's foundation, corporate, and government fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, this position develops and implements strategies to increase and diversify institutional funding.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive institutional giving strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Build, manage, and grow a portfolio of foundation, corporate, and government funding partners.
  • Identify, research, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective and current institutional donors.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and fundraising activity within Raiser’s Edge (or similar CRM).
  • Prepare fundraising reports, pipeline updates, and progress reports for leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Support annual audit activities and other organizational reporting requirements as needed.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate is a strategic fundraiser, exceptional writer, and collaborative relationship builder who thrives in a mission-driven environment.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional fundraising experience, with five or more years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, including securing institutional funding.
  • Experience managing foundation, corporate, and/or government grants from cultivation through stewardship.
  • Strong grant writing, proposal development, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Experience developing program budgets and funding proposals.
  • Knowledge of local, regional, and national philanthropic communities and institutional funding sources.
  • Experience using donor CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising databases.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • A high level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • CFRE certification is a plus.
