Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Research

Wilberforce University seeks a Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Research to develop and manage all activities related to institutional research and effectiveness. This on-site position reports directly to the Chief of Staff and works closely with other senior leaders.

About the role

This role involves training and guidance regarding evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement for all campus constituencies.

Responsibilities

• Manage and operate systems supporting institutional effectiveness, assessment, and accreditation functions, including Institutional Research and other programs assessing University department performance.
• Serve as liaison to the Higher Learning Commission.
• Support accreditation processes for separately accredited programs and departments.
• Assist with development of assessment plans for external grant proposals and assessment of successful grants as needed.
• Chair or co-chair institutional committees related to accreditation, assessment, strategic planning, and data governance.
• Manage data collection and submit all external data requests.
• Facilitate the academic program review process.
• Support institutional strategic planning.

Requirements

• Master’s in Educational Research/assessment, or a related field (e.g., program evaluation, institutional research, or educational assessment) is required; doctorate preferred.
• Experience managing multiple projects and supervising employees responsible for those projects.
• Prior experience in institutional research, including using frozen data, program assessment, or strategic planning in higher education, or related functions is preferred.
• Experience extracting and using Banner or a similar Student Information System (SIS) platform.
• Background screening will be required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire; the University does not sponsor employment visas for this position.
