Director of Information Technology Services

About the role

The Director of Information Technology Services provides leadership and strategic direction for the City's technology infrastructure, systems, and services.

Responsibilities

• Oversee IT operations, including network administration, cybersecurity, application development, and data management
• Develop and implement technology strategies that align with citywide goals and service delivery needs
• Lead IT project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation across departments
• Manage vendor contracts and technology procurement
• Ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements
• Direct IT staff and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Proven experience in senior IT leadership, preferably in public sector or large-scale enterprise environments
• Strong knowledge of current and emerging technologies, including cloud computing, networks, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic IT plans
• Experience managing IT budgets and complex technology projects
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with elected officials, department heads, and external partners
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)

Pay

Annual salary range: $220,680 – $268,238. Newly-hired employees may be eligible for up to $15,000 relocation allowance for expenses incurred for relocation of the employee and their immediate family to San Diego County.
