Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for the City’s Information Technology (IT) services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Oversee the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems, infrastructure, and services to support City operations.
- Manage IT budgets, resources, and contracts to ensure cost-effective and efficient delivery of services.
- Develop and enforce IT policies, standards, and procedures to ensure security, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Lead and mentor IT staff, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with City departments to identify technology needs and deliver solutions that enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of IT systems, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Represent the City in regional, state, and national technology initiatives and partnerships.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Public Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.
- Ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible experience in IT management, including at least five (5) years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience in government or public sector IT is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and emerging technologies.
- Proven ability to develop and implement IT strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, ITIL, or PMP are a plus.
Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $220,680 - $268,238.
If eligible, the newly-hired employee may receive up to $15,000 relocation allowance for expenses incurred for relocating the employee and their immediate family to San Diego County.
