Job Purpose
The Director, Information Technology is responsible for leading and continuously improving GCX's technology environment, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient solutions that support business operations, growth, and digital transformation initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
- Enterprise Applications, Business Process & Digital Transformation
- Serve as the executive owner for GCX's enterprise application portfolio including IFS ERP, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, integrations, workflow automation, and related business systems
- Drive application roadmap planning, process optimization, user adoption, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Partner with Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Customer Service and Data Analytics leaders to maximize business value from enterprise applications including identifying process improvement opportunities and implementing technology solutions that increase efficiency and effectiveness
- Provide leadership to the Business Applications Manager who, along with the Business Systems Analyst, administers, supports, and enhances enterprise business applications, including ERP and related systems, and ensures application changes, upgrades, and integrations are properly managed and documented
- Support acquisitions, integration activities, and business process changes as required
- IT Operations & Service Delivery
- Lead the daily operation and support of GCX's technology environment, including infrastructure, networks, cloud services, business applications, and end-user computing
- Ensure the availability, performance, reliability, and security of business-critical systems and services
- Provide leadership to the IT Support Manager, who oversees the Helpdesk and operations team and establishes service levels that provide high-quality user experience
- Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve stability, efficiency, and support processes
- Lead technology incident response and coordinate resolution of major system issues with third party Managed Service Providers
- Develop and maintain IT operational procedures, standards, and documentation
- Infrastructure & Cybersecurity
- Establish governance over infrastructure and cybersecurity service providers, ensuring systems remain secure, reliable, and aligned with business requirements
- Maintain working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, risks, and compliance requirements sufficient to support business decision making and vendor oversight
- Provide leadership to the two internal analysts plus the external security providers that maintain effective cybersecurity controls and risk management practices
- Ensure cybersecurity controls, monitoring, vulnerability management, access management, and security awareness activities are effectively maintained including annual CIS score updates
- Partner with external security Managed Service Providers and internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate technology risks
- Support security assessments, audits, and customer compliance requirements
- Team Leadership
- Lead, develop, and mentor eight IT team members across infrastructure, cybersecurity, helpdesk, and business applications
- Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and development plans for team members
- Foster a culture of accountability, customer service, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Assist with organizational planning, staffing, and succession development within the IT function
- Vendor & Project Management
- Manage relationships with global technology vendors, managed service providers, telecommunications providers, and security partners
- Monitor vendor performance and ensure service commitments are achieved
- Lead technology projects from planning through implementation and operational transition
- Manage departmental budgets, technology assets, licensing, and support contracts
- Provide recommendations to the VP Integration regarding technology investments and operational priorities
Required Experience
- 8+ years of progressive IT experience, including 3+ years leading technical teams
- Significant experience leading ERP environments in manufacturing or distribution organizations including experience supporting middle market ERP systems (IFS is the current company ERP but other examples include Epicor or MS Dynamics, etc.) and other business-critical applications
- Demonstrated experience partnering with business leaders to improve operational processes through technology
- Experience managing IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, helpdesk, and enterprise applications
- Demonstrated success improving IT operations, service delivery, and technology reliability
- Experience implementing or supporting AI-enabled tools, automation solutions, and knowledge management platforms that improve productivity and operational effectiveness
- Experience managing vendors, managed service providers, and technology projects
- Experience leading technology functions through a combination of internal teams and managed service providers
- Experience in a multi-plant manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment
- Comfortable operating in a lean IT organization where leaders remain engaged in solution design, prioritization, vendor management, and operational execution
Preferred Experience
- Experience with IFS
- Experience with Microsoft technologies including Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune, and Entra ID
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity, networking, cloud infrastructure, and systems integration protocols
- Relevant certifications (CISSP, Security+, CCNA, Azure, ITIL, PMP, etc.) are a plus
