About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Infection Prevention to coordinate the hospital's Infection Control program in compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies as well as established procedures and standards of care. This role involves surveillance, detection, identification, and control of communicable diseases within the hospital, along with data analysis and interpretation of findings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and manage the review and assessment functions of the infection control program.
  • Initiate, develop, and deliver education programs on infection control and prevention for staff development and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and the healthcare community concerning infection prevention issues to ensure hospital compliance.
  • Perform targeted surveillance and prepare reports and statistics on healthcare-associated infection rates.
  • Develop and promote consistent application of infection prevention policies and procedures.
  • Support emergency management activities and EOC through participation in environmental rounds, bioterrorism and patient influx planning, and emergency response drills.
  • Identify community and hospital-acquired infections as defined by the Infection Control Committee.
  • Identify and report communicable disease cases to the Florida Division of Public Health per established policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years in a clinical setting required.
  • 2+ years in a leadership role required.
  • 5+ years in infection control required.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required.
  • Knowledge of epidemiological principles and infectious disease.
  • Knowledge of sterilization, sanitation, and disinfection practices.
