About the Role

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for all Employee and Labor Relations functions in the Las Vegas Region. This includes oversight of all employee investigations, enforcement of union contracts, advice, counsel, and HR support to all levels of management, training and developing of the HR Integrity & Performance/Culture staff, HR training for all levels of the Operations staff, managing the grievance, mediation, and arbitration processes, making employment decisions in resolution of team member performance and conduct issues, handling outside agency issues, frequent interaction with multiple unions concerning collective bargaining issues, participation in collective bargaining, and addressing other employee issues and concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the HR Integrity organization with methods and actions that are ethical and in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies.
  • Ensure fair employment practices and company policies are applied consistently and fairly, maintaining compliance with all legal and company policies.
  • Serve as a dynamic and energetic leader, fostering teamwork, employee morale, motivation, and open communication, inspiring employees to go beyond the expected.
  • Provide decisive and timely issue resolution, adapting as necessary and appropriate.
  • Identify compliance risks and take actions to eliminate or minimize them.
  • Champion a commitment to honesty, integrity, and responsible corporate behavior within the organization.
  • Create a compliance culture and foster an environment where employees feel comfortable reporting potential violations or misconduct.
  • Interpret company policies, procedures, practices, and union contracts.
  • Reinforce performance management skills and capabilities of supervisors, managers, and directors.
  • Oversee all team member investigations and respond to inquiries from federal and state outside agencies.
  • Develop staff to ensure the company's continued leadership through their efforts.
  • Inspire confidence and build influence through authenticity and strong internal and external relationships.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and maintain relationships with team members at all levels to provide accurate feedback.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Labor Relations/Employee Relations with Human Resources supervisory experience.
  • Strong background in Labor Law with experience in union contracts, mediation, and local unions, preferably in the hospitality/casino industry.
  • Previous experience negotiating Collective Bargaining Agreements preferred.
  • College Degree or equivalent work experience required; Master’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
  • General knowledge of Human Resource Management and the gaming industry.
  • Knowledge of the National Labor Relations Act, Equal Employment, Affirmative Action, and Title VII laws.
  • Ability to monitor legal compliance with federal, state, and gaming laws.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, communication (verbal and written), project management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven record of training, leading, and motivating people.
  • Strong knowledge of work card and other compliance requirements.
  • Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business.
  • Displays an upbeat and positive attitude.
