About the role
This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Davidson Hospitality Group. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all aspects of Human Resources for the resort, including recruitment, employee relations, talent management, performance management, and HR programs and policies
- Partner with the General Manager and senior leadership team to develop and execute HR strategies that support business and operational goals
- Build and strengthen a culture of engagement, accountability, inclusion, and service excellence
- Develop creative strategies to attract, retain, and develop top hospitality talent
- Lead employee engagement, recognition, performance management, and talent development initiatives
- Provide coaching, guidance, and HR expertise to leaders and team members at all levels
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Serve as a trusted advisor to property leadership on employee relations and employment matters
- Stay current on HR trends, best practices, and evolving employment legislation
- Help shape a positive and high-performing workplace culture that reflects the unique spirit of Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred, or a minimum of 4 years of progressive HR experience
- Prior hotel or resort HR experience required
- Strong background in employment law, recruiting, employee relations, and talent retention
- Proven experience leading employee engagement, performance management, and talent development initiatives
- Strong understanding of EEO, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and other applicable employment laws and regulations
- Able to effectively advise and influence property leadership on HR matters
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment and remain flexible through changing priorities
Qualifications
- Affirmative Action experience is a plus
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred
