Director of Human Resources

Pay Range: $150 – $170K | Location: Madison or Menomonie, WI | Type: Onsite

Prototek is seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to lead HR across our multi‑site organization and serve as a trusted partner to executive leadership, managers, and employees. This role blends strategic leadership with hands‑on execution, including advising senior leadership, coaching managers through complex employee matters, leading organizational change, and ensuring critical HR initiatives are completed.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the HR team while establishing clear priorities and accountability.
• Partner with executive and operational leaders on workforce strategy and organizational needs.
• Lead complex employee‑relations matters, investigations, and manager coaching.
• Drive performance‑management, compensation, benefits, and talent initiatives.
• Support reorganizations, leadership transitions, workforce changes, and other business transformations.
• Develop meaningful workforce metrics and translate data into practical recommendations.
• Manage HR vendors, budgets, and external partners.
• Travel to company locations as needed to stay connected to teams and operations.

Requirements

• BS in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (preferred).
• 10+ years of progressive HR experience.
• 5+ years of management experience.
• SHRM‑CP or SHRM‑SCP certification (preferred).
• Advanced working knowledge of employee relations, employment law, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, benefits, payroll, leave administration, HR systems, and workplace safety.
• Strong business judgment, conflict resolution, negotiation, written communication, presentation, and relationship‑management skills.
