About the role

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for implementing and administering all human resources programs and policies that achieve strategic objectives while collaborating with the faculty and staff of the college.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain all human resource policies and procedures.
  • Oversee all aspects of the faculty recruiting process, ensuring timely filling of positions and appropriate use of recruitment resources.
  • Monitor and maintain job descriptions, job classifications, and salary structures in partnership with departments.
  • Advise and counsel managers on employee relations and performance management issues; develop improvement plans and manage involuntary exit processes as necessary.
  • Conduct staff counseling related to College policies, procedures, benefits, and personal matters.
  • Identify and manage employee engagement opportunities, including training sessions, wellness events, and other activities; collect participant feedback for future improvements.
  • Oversee employee leave plan administration, including FMLA and disability, ensuring clarity for employees and managers.
  • Complete and file appropriate Worker’s Compensation verifications and forms for employees and students; serve as the main contact for claim processing.
  • Develop, implement, and administer HR policies, rules, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Manage civil rights and governmental regulation compliance, ensuring supervisors receive necessary training and information.
  • Coordinate and conduct employee professional development and training programs.
  • Plan, organize, and arrange employee events.
  • Provide an open-door policy for employees to communicate concerns and complaints.
  • Handle special projects and other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of recruitment and employment documentation principles, procedures, and requirements.
  • Ability to supervise and direct employees.
  • Professional and tactful demeanor with broad HR knowledge.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all employees.
  • Ability to explain technical information clearly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in all aspects of Human Resources.
  • Experience with ADP Payroll and HR processing systems.
