Director of Human Resources

Hollenbeck Palms, a historic non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Los Angeles, is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Director of Human Resources to lead all campus HR functions, supporting a dedicated team across independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Partner with executive leadership to align HR initiatives with our non-profit mission and organizational goals.
• Talent Acquisition: Lead full-cycle recruitment and onboarding for healthcare professionals (RN, LVN, CNA), culinary, administrative, and facilities staff.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure total compliance with California labor laws, Title 22, California Department of Public Health (CDPH), and Department of Social Services (DSS) regulations.
• Licensing Requirements: Manage mandatory employee compliance files, including DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearances (Live Scan), TB testing, and health screenings.
• Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor to management and staff, resolving grievances and cultivating a supportive culture.
• Benefits & Payroll Support: Oversee the administration of health benefits, retirement plans, workers' compensation, and payroll processing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive HR management experience.
• Strong preference for experience in healthcare, senior living, long-term care, or CCRC environments.
• Expert-level understanding of California employment laws and wage/hour regulations.
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field (SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification highly desirable).
