About the role

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Manchester is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support its mission of fostering a supportive, connected, and inspiring workplace for employees.

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming candidate and new-hire experience by coordinating job postings, screening, interviews, reference checks, offers, and orientation.
  • Keep benefits administration running smoothly, including enrollments, changes, vendor coordination, and clear employee communication.
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for managers and employees by providing practical guidance on policies, employee relations, and employment-related requirements.
  • Support recognition, engagement, and culture-building initiatives that help employees feel valued and connected to the Club’s mission.
  • Administer employee leave and workers’ compensation programs with accuracy, compassion, and confidentiality.
  • Along with running the biweekly payroll, provide timely, accurate, and confidential HR support to the CEO, Finance Director, Operations Director, board, and staff.
  • Stay current on HR best practices, employment laws, and regulatory requirements to help ensure consistent, compliant, and people-centered practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • At least five years of progressive HR generalist or HR management experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Clear, confident communication skills and the ability to build trust with employees, managers, executive leadership, board members, and community stakeholders.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, organization, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Comfort using HRIS systems, applicant tracking tools, benefits platforms, payroll software, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or another professional HR certification is highly preferred.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
