About the role
WNCSource is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Housing Programs to lead, innovate, and expand our housing initiatives. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will oversee the strategic direction and daily operations of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), HCV Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS), and HCV Homeownership programs. In this role, you will hold wide latitude for independent decision-making—driving operational excellence, representing the agency with key funding partners, and evaluating new opportunities for housing programs and community development.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the CEO to plan, design, implement, and evaluate overall housing program systems and performance.
- Provide executive oversight for the ongoing operations of the HCV, FSS, and HCV Homeownership programs in compliance with federal regulations, state statutes, and agency policies.
- Direct and supervise Housing Department staff, foster professional development, and ensure efficient day-to-day workflow.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new housing opportunities, including potential affordable housing development activities.
- Serve as the primary agency representative to HUD, regional funding sources, community partners, and regulatory bodies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Services, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent advanced degree (preferred).
- Knowledge or experience in Real Estate Development is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated supervisory and team leadership experience.
- Background administering Federal Affordable Housing Programs (strongly preferred).
- Proven experience working successfully with low-income populations and diverse communities.
- Prior experience in a non-profit environment (preferred).

Base Salary: $78,000 / year
