About the role
The Director of High School Students will equip and encourage 9th – 12th grade students to develop an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. This position is responsible for creating disciples by connecting with high school students, parents, and volunteers while developing dynamic, ministry-focused programming.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement dynamic, ministry-focused programming for high school students.
- Connect with high school students, parents, and volunteers to build relationships and disciple them.
- Lead a student ministry team and volunteers to ensure effective execution of ministry goals.
- Manage and coordinate student ministry activities, including camps, retreats, and mission trips.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with Asbury’s Senior Pastor and other leadership teams.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all circumstances.
- Work independently and adapt quickly to change and new situations.
Requirements
- Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ, seeking to know, love and serve God.
- Model behavior that aligns with Asbury’s Ministerial Employees’ Mission Statement.
- Be an active member or become an active member of Asbury Church.
- Have vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage and implement student ministry within the parameters of a theologically conservative church.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the field of Christian ministry. Some additional Wesleyan theological training preferred.
- Have 5+ years leading a mid to large-size youth program.
- Experience leading a student ministry team and volunteers.
- Understand how to reach today’s youth and the courage to make hard decisions for the best of Asbury’s Student Ministry.
- Have exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, volunteers, and ministry staff including speaking to large groups or meeting one on one.
- Have the ability to organize and prioritize work quickly.
- Be a self-motivated team player who can work independently.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Have the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while serving others.
- Have the ability to work with all levels of clergy, leadership, and staff effectively.
- Have the ability to use social media to capture moments that share the mission, joy, and life transformation taking place in the ministry.

Pay
$50,000 - $60,000
Schedule
Full-Time, Sunday – Thursday, 40+ hours/week. In addition, some weekends throughout the year are required for camps/retreats/mission trips.
