About the role

The Director of Global Compliance will lead a team of compliance professionals to ensure the organization adheres to regulatory requirements and company policies. This role involves monitoring business activities for compliance with local and international logistics regulations, establishing compliance metrics, responding to complex compliance questions, assisting with government inspections, implementing internal controls, and developing compliance training.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of compliance professionals to support colleagues with compliance questions, execute day-to-day responsibilities, and complete projects and initiatives.
  • Maintain awareness of transportation and trade rules, including Indirect Air Carrier Security Program, Certified Cargo Screening Security Program, export controls, sanctions, dangerous goods, FDA, DOT, FMC, and C-TPAT.
  • Oversee and coordinate U.S. government agency inspections, investigations, mitigation efforts, and voluntary disclosures.
  • Design and review policies, procedures, training materials, and communication tools to ensure compliance.
  • Manage internal compliance audits and publish monthly metrics to identify violations and drive improvement.
  • Develop and implement internal controls for ongoing compliance with regulations.
  • Manage the Company’s 3rd-Party Risk Management Program and support supplier contracting and vetting.
  • Maintain company licensure and registrations.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President, Global Compliance, and other leaders to execute the Company’s global compliance strategy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Required).
  • 10+ years of experience in the Freight Forwarding industry with process familiarity in air, ocean, and domestic services (Required).
  • 10+ years of experience in logistics management and team management (Required).

Skills

  • Direct experience with export control laws, Indirect Air Carrier Security Program, and Certified Cargo Screening Security Program.
  • Ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable interacting with teammates across all roles and levels to enforce compliance requirements.
  • Ability to balance compliance risks with business needs.
  • Strong ability to develop and communicate regulatory advice, policies, best practices, compliance objectives, and risk tolerance.

Pay

The wage range for this position is $161,340.00–$242,000.00 and may vary based on geography, knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience. Eligibility for a bonus based on business and/or individual performance metrics (dependent on position).
