Director of Gaming Operations

About the role
The Director of Gaming Operations provides leadership and strategic planning for all facets of the gaming operation at both Turfway Park Racing & Gaming and Newport Racing & Gaming. The role establishes and maintains a culture of regulatory compliance, service excellence, operational efficiency, profitability, and guest and team-member satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Develops and manages the departmental budget.
- Oversees hiring, training, performance management, and corrective action for the Gaming Operations Department.
- Reviews and manages the department’s financial results.
- Ensures the safety and security of team members and guests; manages programs to control and reduce lost-time injuries.
- Reviews staffing levels to maintain appropriate employment levels.
- Delegates duties and assigns responsibilities.
- Develops team members through interviewing, hiring, coaching, and evaluating.
- Directs gaming-equipment conversions, placement, and repair.
- Reviews gaming activities and promotional statuses with the President/General Manager.
- Monitors and adjusts gaming-floor performance relative to local competition, optimal gaming mix, and pricing strategy.
- Meets with departmental directors and managers as needed.
- Ensures compliance with all gaming regulations and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the property’s BSA Policy.
- Monitors for suspicious activity as defined by the BSA and the property’s BSA Policy.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of gaming management experience in a multi-device, 24-hour operation.
- Four-year degree in a related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Significant experience collecting, organizing, evaluating, and presenting Gaming Performance Data.
- Experience with the Aristocrat Oasis Accounting System is a plus.
- Ability to obtain a valid Kentucky Racing License.
