About the role

We’re seeking a dedicated and reliable Director of Food and Nutrition to lead a high-performing dietary services team. Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance and maintain high standards in dietary compliance, food safety, and service excellence.
  • Oversee food safety practices to ensure proper handling and utilization of all foods and equipment, prevent contamination, improve quality, and minimize costs.
  • Enhance resident satisfaction by conducting initial interviews to determine food preferences and special dietary needs.
  • Maintain accurate records, including updating and securing resident diet cards and department records.
  • Lead annual and quarterly assessments with input from the dietitian as needed.
  • Provide strong leadership by interviewing, hiring, evaluating, motivating, and, when necessary, discharging food and nutrition services employees.
  • Direct daily operations by supervising, scheduling, and coordinating the work of staff in the Food and Nutrition Department.
  • Develop and conduct in-service and orientation training programs for dietary staff on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure quality food products are prepared according to menus and standardized recipes.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively procure and store all food and supplies.
  • Plan menus for staff meals and special functions as directed by the Administrator.
  • Excel in supervising and managing the daily operations of the Food and Nutrition Services Department.

Requirements

  • Ability to ensure quality food products are prepared according to menus and standardized recipes.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively procure and store all food and supplies.
  • Capability to plan menus for staff meals and special functions.
  • Experience in supervising and managing the daily operations of a Food and Nutrition Services Department.
