Director of Financial Planning and Analysis
About the role
The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis will serve as a strategic finance leader responsible for enterprise financial planning, forecasting, business performance analysis, and executive reporting within a PE-backed multi-site manufacturing and service organization. Partnering closely with senior leadership, this individual will deliver financial insights that support strategic decision-making, optimize operational performance, and drive long-term growth. The role oversees financial planning, business intelligence, and performance reporting while leading a team to deliver scalable analytics, meaningful business insights, and continuous process improvement across the finance organization. The ideal candidate will be able to work out of the office a few times a week.
Responsibilities
- Lead the enterprise-wide annual budgeting cycle, rolling forecasts, long-range financial planning, and monthly performance review process.
- Develop sophisticated financial models, scenario analyses, and business cases to support strategic investments, pricing decisions, operational initiatives, and overall business growth.
- Deliver executive-level financial reporting, KPI dashboards, and variance analysis that provide leadership with timely, meaningful, and actionable insights.
- Partner with executive leadership and operational teams to assess financial and business performance, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and recommend actions to improve profitability, efficiency, and sustainable growth.
- Monitor and analyze critical financial metrics, including revenue, EBITDA, cash flow, and working capital, while supporting capital planning, investment decisions, and resource allocation.
- Lead the organization’s Business Intelligence and management reporting capabilities, with a focus on improving data quality, dashboard development, reporting automation, and accessibility of business insights.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to strengthen forecasting accuracy, enhance financial transparency, and promote a data-driven approach to business decision-making.
- Drive finance transformation initiatives that streamline processes, increase automation, improve analytical capabilities, and leverage emerging technologies to enhance the effectiveness of the finance function.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing FP&A and Business Intelligence team, fostering a culture centered on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Provide strategic financial support to executive leadership through ad hoc analysis, board-level reporting, strategic planning initiatives, and other high-impact business priorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA, CPA, CMA, or other advanced professional designation preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, Corporate Finance, Strategic Finance, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience leading and developing teams across FP&A, financial reporting, Business Intelligence, or corporate finance.
- Proven track record of leading enterprise-level budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, financial modeling, and performance management processes.
- Strong executive presence with demonstrated experience partnering with senior leaders on strategic planning, financial performance, operational priorities, and business decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable planning processes, executive reporting frameworks, KPI structures, and Business Intelligence capabilities.
- Experience leading finance transformation programs, reporting automation, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear recommendations and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with ERP platforms, financial planning and analysis systems, and Business Intelligence tools; familiarity with AI-powered analytics, automation, and modern reporting technologies is highly desirable.
