Director of Financial Management

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation, review, and distribution of monthly financial statements for a portfolio of community associations.
  • Ensure financial reports are accurate, complete, and delivered within established deadlines.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger activity, bank reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain financial reporting quality and consistency across all assigned communities.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation, audits, tax return coordination, and reserve funding analyses as needed.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function.

Leadership and Team Oversight

  • Directly supervise and provide leadership to the Staff Accountant, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable teams.
  • Establish departmental goals, performance expectations, and accountability measures.
  • Conduct regular coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and workload distribution across the accounting department.
  • Serve as a resource for resolving complex accounting, billing, and collection issues.

Accounts Receivable Oversight

  • Oversee the collection process for association assessments and other receivables.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly Accounts Receivable reports to management.
  • Monitor delinquency trends and work with management teams to address collection concerns.
  • Review aging reports and recommend process improvements to reduce outstanding receivables.

Accounts Payable Oversight

  • Oversee vendor payment processing and compliance with internal controls.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices and recurring obligations.
  • Monitor workflows and approval processes to maintain efficiency and accountability.

Ancillary Billing Administration

  • Manage the administration and invoicing of ancillary services and additional billable programs.
  • Ensure all ancillary revenue streams are accurately billed, tracked, and collected.
  • Analyze billing activity and identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and operational efficiency.

Client and Internal Support

  • Partner with management staff and leadership to address financial questions and concerns.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to internal departments and community association boards.
  • Assist with special projects, financial analyses, and strategic initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within community association management, property management, or a related industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong understanding of financial statement preparation, general ledger accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

$65,000 - $70,000/year
