About the Role
Leads the District's budget, treasury, and debt management functions to ensure fiscal integrity, regulatory compliance, and effective stewardship of financial resources. Partners with the Chief Financial Officer to advance strategic initiatives, strengthen financial systems and internal controls, and drive operational excellence through process and technology improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business-related field (required)
- Master's degree or CPA (preferred)
- TASBO Certification (preferred)
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of governmental accounting, public school finance, and TEA Financial Accountability Systems Resource Guide (FASRG)
- Proficiency with MUNIS, Microsoft Excel, and financial technology systems
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to interpret financial data, policies, and regulations to support strategic decision-making
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, lead projects, and meet deadlines
Experience
Three to five years of successful administrative experience in public school accounting, auditing, or other governmental accounting.
Work Environment
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including personal computer and peripherals
- Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
- Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
- Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel and out-of-state travel
- Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress

230 days per year, exempt (non-contract) status.
