Director of Finance & Operations
Brown & Brown is seeking a Director of Financial Operations to join our growing team in Atlanta, GA. This role reports to the CFO of the Wholesale Division and serves as a business partner to the leadership team, overseeing all aspects of financial operations for a defined region within the Wholesale Division.
About the role
The Director of Finance & Operations will own the month-end close, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis, and operational support. This position drives continuous process improvement, builds the financial team, and enhances financial reporting and analysis to deliver value-added service.
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate completion and review of the defined region’s month-end close process.
- Design, implement, and maintain effective internal controls for the region’s Profit Centers.
- Partner with leadership to support financial planning, analysis, and decision-making functions.
- Prepare forecasts, annual business plans, and investment cases.
- Analyze and report on monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting/forecasting, including variance analysis.
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-quality finance teammates to build a world-class finance organization.
- Develop strong working relationships with Profit Center Leaders, Shared Service Departments, and executive leadership.
- Synthesize detailed financial data into high-level, actionable analysis.
- Develop budget and forecast models to drive decision-making and monitor business performance.
- Provide standard and ad-hoc analysis to identify new ways to improve business productivity.
- Prepare analysis, commentary, and presentations for financial review meetings and strategic planning.
- Lead, coach, and develop the finance team within the defined region and Wholesale Division.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree preferred.
- CPA and/or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of seven to ten years’ experience in a similar role (Controller or FP&A role preferred).
- Proven leadership skills in managing and developing a team.
- Experience delivering projects that drive measurable financial results and organic growth.
- Ability to interact effectively with senior management in a dynamic environment.
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
