Director of Finance

Robert Half is partnering with a growing, multi-entity organization to identify a strategic and hands-on Director of Finance to lead financial operations and support continued business growth. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance leader who enjoys going beyond traditional accounting responsibilities to influence business decisions, improve financial visibility, and drive organizational transformation. The ideal candidate will bring a strong accounting foundation, proven leadership experience, and the ability to balance financial oversight with strategic planning, financial modeling, and business partnership. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic financial leadership and serve as a trusted partner to operating company leadership. Oversee month-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting while focusing on review, analysis, and process improvement rather than day-to-day transaction preparation. Review account reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet activity to maintain financial accuracy and strong internal controls. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six, fostering accountability, collaboration, and detail oriented growth. Support organizational decentralization initiatives, including the separation of legal entities and development of standalone balance sheets and entity-specific reporting processes. Improve financial visibility and reporting to support operational performance, planning, and decision-making. Oversee the settlements function responsible for independent contractor payment processing. Partner with billing and collections teams to support evolving processes and greater operating company autonomy. Collaborate with corporate finance and FP& A leadership on financial analysis, modeling, forecasting, and strategic initiatives. Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, strengthen financial processes, and leverage technology and AI tools to improve efficiency. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Strong accounting foundation with experience overseeing financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close, and internal controls. Previous leadership experience managing, coaching, and developing a team. Experience with financial modeling, advanced Microsoft Excel, and Power BI. Ability to translate financial results into meaningful business insights and recommendations. Strategic mindset with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Comfort operating in a changing environment with evolving reporting structures and processes. Curiosity and willingness to leverage emerging technologies and AI tools to improve financial analysis and operational efficiency. Preferred Qualifications: Public accounting or external audit experience. Experience transitioning from accounting or controllership into FP& A, strategic finance, or business partnership. Background supporting multi-entity organizations, decentralized operations, or complex financial reporting structures. Experience leading finance transformation initiatives or establishing standalone entity-level reporting processes.
