Job Objectives
As Director of Finance, the successful candidate will play an integral role in contributing to the attainment of Human Appeal's (HA) objectives by providing strategic and financial guidance to ensure that the organization's financial commitments are met, including developing all necessary policies and procedures to ensure sound financial management and control.
Essential Job Functions
- Oversee the operational management of the Finance department
- Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks
- Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and act to prevent problems
- Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on a quarterly and annual basis
- Conduct analysis to produce budgets and forecasts, and report on these at BoD and BoT level
- Ensure the financial compliance of the organization, in line with relevant legislation, regulation, and audit recommendations
- Oversee the timely and accurate processing and maintenance of financial data on HA computer systems (Salesforce, SAGE, NAVision)
Education/Expertise
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum 8 years of experience in relevant Finance discipline
- Certified Public Accountant required (ACA; ACCA; CIMA); preferred
Job Requirements/Skills/Etc
- Significant Senior-level financial leadership, management and oversight experience
- Experience with, or exposure to, the non-for-profit or public sector
- Experience with, or exposure to, financial management in developing countries
- MS Office Suite; experienced user of financial databases and systems
- Previous experience using Salesforce, SAGE, and NAVision is desirable
Physical Requirements
- Visual acuity to use a keyboard and view a computer terminal
- Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp
- May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand and walk
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or move light to medium weight up to twelve (12) pounds and/or exert up to twelve (12) pounds of force
