About the Role

The Director of Finance will lead the company's financial strategy, reporting, and operations to support sustainable growth and strong governance in a manufacturing environment. This role oversees budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and controller functions while partnering with senior leadership to drive performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute financial strategy aligned with corporate goals; provide insightful analysis and recommendations to the executive team and Board.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial statements.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and variance analysis to drive business performance and decision making.
  • Serve as the senior accounting leader / Controller: supervise general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting.
  • Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team; set priorities, develop talent, and ensure high-performance standards.
  • Coordinate external audits and tax engagements; manage relationships with public accounting firms, banks, and other financial partners.
  • Design, implement, and strengthen internal controls, policies, and financial procedures to mitigate risk and support compliance.
  • Optimize cash flow and treasury operations, including banking relationships, debt management, and working capital initiatives.
  • Drive cost accounting and product margin analysis specific to manufacturing operations; partner with operations to improve costing, inventory management, and pricing decisions.
  • Support M&A, capital-raising, and strategic projects: lead financial due diligence, integration planning, and financial modeling as needed.
  • Implement and maintain financial systems (ERP/finance tools); lead automation and process-improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prepare executive-level reporting and board materials, translating complex financial information into clear insights and action plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred; Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience with a track record of leadership; prior Controller or senior finance leadership experience required.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in manufacturing finance, including cost accounting, inventory costing, and margin analysis.
  • Background in public accounting and external audit is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience managing audits, tax engagements, banking relationships, and external advisors.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP and financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and strong Excel/financial modeling skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills; ability to present financial information to non-finance audiences and the Board.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, improve processes, and scale finance operations in a growing business.
