Director of Finance
Aspen Hospitality, a division of Aspen One, develops, owns, and operates a growing portfolio of luxury and upper-scale hotels, private clubs, and branded residential properties under The Nell and Limelight brands. This includes The Little Nell, Aspen’s only Five-Star, Five-Diamond ski-in/ski-out hotel and its affiliated Residences at the base of Aspen Mountain, as well as a new Nell property in development at Rockefeller Center in New York City. The Limelight brand spans properties in Aspen, Snowmass, Denver, Boulder (opened August 2025), Ketchum, Idaho, Mammoth, California (opened December 2025), and Charleston, South Carolina (coming in 2028). Aspen Hospitality also owns and operates the Aspen Mountain Club, Snowmass Mountain Club, and Mammoth Lakes Mountain Club.
About the role
The Director of Finance oversees general accounting operations, implements and maintains internal controls to safeguard company assets, and ensures financial reporting complies with all financial policies. This position reports to the Senior Director of Finance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain operational standards for accounting, cash handling, accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, systems support, and payroll support.
- Maintain accurate accounting and financial records in compliance with company policies, procedures, and GAAP.
- Develop and maintain accounting standard operating procedures for treasury, banking, accounts receivable, inventories, fixed assets, accounts payable, financial reporting, payroll, and internal controls.
- Manage preparation of daily, weekly, monthly, and annual financial reporting.
- Maintain ProfitSword infrastructure, including user administration, chart of accounts, financial reporting, and data integrity.
- Develop and execute innovative business plans aligned with the company’s and brand’s strategic direction.
- Forecast working capital analysis and cash flow to ensure sufficient cash requirements.
- Maintain a clean balance sheet with all accounts reconciled monthly, ensuring no stale outstanding items and accurate documentation of inventories.
- Maintain fixed asset schedule, including depreciation, and account for asset disposals in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage and control exposure to bad debt losses, ensuring collection of overdue payments through credit and collection procedures.
- Act as a liaison with Aspen One accounting to ensure adherence to company policies regarding treasury, banking, tax preparation, property insurance, and annual audits.
- Manage recurring capital process, including capital requests, tracking costs against approved budgets, closing out completed projects, and setting up fixed assets.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Five or more years of experience leading a finance and accounting division.
Skills
- Knowledge of property management software, point of sale systems, electronic time clock systems, spreadsheet software, and other applications.
- Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and capital project accounting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of accounting.
- Ability to analyze and improve processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and sales, to ensure integrated project execution.
- Leadership skills, including interpersonal and communication skills to influence and encourage sound financial decisions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and understanding of professional business ethics with teams and guests.
- Ability to analyze operational, financial, and marketing data to maintain and improve market share and penetration goals.
- Ability to work under deadline pressure and adapt to a constantly changing market.
- Excellent oral (presentation), written communication, and organizational skills.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $165,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience. All salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, type, and sit at a desk/computer for most of the work shift, executing repetitive movements.
