Director of Family Ministries

About the Role

First Baptist Church of Commerce, TX is seeking a part‑time Director of Family Ministries. The role provides leadership and oversight for the church’s family ministry, focusing on children from birth through 5th grade. The director will partner with parents, develop and encourage volunteers, and help create simple, consistent, safe, and gospel‑centered environments where children can grow in their faith. The position aligns with the church’s mission: “Pray First. Love Like Jesus. Serve with Purpose. Go with the Gospel. Repeat Every Day.”

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for Sunday morning and Wednesday evening children’s ministries.
• Select and oversee biblically sound, gospel‑centered curriculum.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and care for volunteers.
• Communicate with and equip parents for discipleship at home.
• Help maintain strong child‑safety policies and procedures.
• Develop volunteer leaders and build a healthy, sustainable ministry team.
• Work closely with the pastor and church leadership to advance the mission and vision of First Baptist Commerce.

Qualifications

• A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with the doctrine and ministry philosophy of First Baptist Commerce.
• Experience serving in children’s or family ministry.
• Ability to relate well to children, parents, and volunteers.
• Organized with strong communication skills.
• Capacity to recruit, encourage, and develop others for ministry.
• Desire to make disciples rather than simply run programs.

Schedule

Part‑time position of approximately 15–20 hours per week.
